What should I wear for a horseback ride in Jasper?

Closed-toe shoes or boots are required — no sandals or flip-flops. We recommend long pants, layers for changing mountain weather, and sunscreen. Avoid loose scarves or anything that could get caught.

Do I need riding experience?

Not at all! Our horses are chosen for their gentle temperament, and our guides are experienced with first-time riders. We'll give you a full orientation and safety briefing before you head out on the trail.

What are the age and weight limits for trail rides?

Riders must be at least 6 years old. Maximum rider weight is 250 lbs (113 kg). We match each rider to an appropriate horse for safety and comfort.

Are helmets provided?

Yes, we provide helmets for all riders. We strongly recommend wearing one, especially for younger or less experienced riders.

How do I book a trail ride at Jasper Riding Stables?

You can book online through our website, call us at 780-852-7433, or stop by the stables in person. We recommend booking in advance during peak summer months (July–August) as rides fill up quickly.

What is the cancellation policy?

We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled ride. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a fee. If we cancel due to weather, you'll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.

What happens if it rains?

Rides run rain or shine — this is the Canadian Rockies, after all! We only cancel in cases of extreme weather such as lightning or severe storms. If we cancel, you'll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.

What is the riding season at Jasper Riding Stables?

Trail rides operate from May through October. During the summer months (July–August) we offer the most ride times per day. Spring and fall rides are quieter and offer incredible scenery — wildflowers in spring, golden aspens in fall.

Do you offer winter activities?

Yes! During winter months (November–April) we offer horse-drawn sleigh rides on Pyramid Lake and carriage rides through the Jasper townsite in partnership with Tourism Jasper. These are weather permitting and a magical way to experience Jasper in winter.

Where are Jasper Riding Stables located?

We are located on Pyramid Lake Road in Jasper National Park, about 4 km north of the Jasper townsite. Parking is available on-site. We are the only operating Jasper Riding Stables — if you've been directed to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge location, please note that location is permanently closed.

Is there still a stables at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge?

No — following the 2024 Jasper wildfire, we made the decision to close our Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge location. The trails in that area burned and we wanted to let the land recover naturally. We are the only Jasper Riding Stables still operating, located on Pyramid Lake Road.
